Welcome to the Watch Complications channel. Here you will find watch-related content, from reviews and how-to videos to project details and watchmaking tips. I am an engineer and maker that loves to tinker, learn, and share. Visit watchcomplications.com
So, what makes Watch Complications different from the many watch review channels and blogs? Not only do I review watches, I make watches and watch dials. Reading about watches, movements, heritage, and sharing facts and opinions are fine. But the pragmatic and shared experience of destructing and constructing watches, making dials and parts from scratch, experimenting with materials and design, and building a nano-brand are characteristics that make my channel distinct.
My channel is me being me and my videos are comparatively longer than other reviews and content. If you are looking for a 5-minute recitation of specs with a thumbs up or down, plenty of other channels do that. Here you will find in-depth conversation.
Enjoy!

Would this holder fit the 2350? And can be fitted into AliExpress 40mm cases thats made for the NH series?
Impressive work. So what is the outer diameter size? It seems that I have the same exact watch case and the movement so it will be helpful for me to know the exact outer diameter of that spacer that you successfully worked on.
Kinda throwing the one off custom built watch term around pretty liberally . You pad printed a watch dial and assembled off the shelf parts lol . We used to pay guys 14 bucks an hour to screen print 50,000 dollar Mc2kw power amps ... didn't make them amp builders ..
c'mon really?...I don't run a manufacturing facility, I'm a one person gig. I'm not doing screen printing. What I am doing is drafting etchings, cutting etchings, setting and using a manual pad printer, sourcing parts (not as easy as it sounds), and yes even creating custom parts like spacers, movement holders, custom hands, etc. When all put together is not as simple as it sounds and takes way more tools than one would imagine. I guess you don't know until you do it all yourself. Using lasers, water jets, 3d printers, manual pads, dial designs, etc isn't being a builder or creator? I'd say take a look at across my side at a variety of sorts of projects I do.
Hey mate , im trying to fit miyota Quartz movement in nh35 cases , unfortunately i cant find anything for the miyotas and AliExpress is filled with nh35 cases , i dont like automatic watches and wanna build my own but cant find a case for the miyota Quartz movements
hey there. Did you fill out the form on my website? It's a matter of me knowing what case you are using and what movement you are using and we could work on making a custom holder if you want. All the info can be found here: watchcomplications.com/ten-six-watches/custom-movement-holders/
Marvellous work 👏 and excellent peice on this delicate task. Thanks a lot .
Many thanks! And thanks for watching.
Where do I get the Rolex 👑 symbole from?
Thanks for this amazing video! Is this likely to work for putting a Ronda 515 in a case made for an nh35/nh36?
The holder fits the Ronda 515 series to the SKX007. If you want to put the 515 in a different case, then the holder might need to be different, the intended movement doesn't matter that much because most cases come with a holder to fit a movement to that specific case, such as the NH35. If you change the movement then you need to change the holder, usually. watchcomplications.com/ten-six-watches/movement-and-case-combinations/
Just ran into this and just ordered a pair - as an eyeglass user this looks perfect for watchmaking and other household repair tasks. Thanks! Really like this channel.
they’re good enough and cost effective enough I bought a second pair. They’re good for all sorts of tasks. I also use them when removing splinters from me or others in the house, doing light kit wiring on LEGO, you name it!
I got a newer one with the blue sunburst dial face and double folding clasp on an "E" style bracelet ... there is no play in the bezel $140CA at Costco on sale !
Very cool, good deal. Change the strap if you value your hair!
Thanks for this beautiful tutorial. It was very clear and now I am no longer terrified at the idea of working on a movement with a date complication
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching. (p.s., a little terror is still useful, lol)
Could you use the same spacer for the 9075 GMT movement?
being a GMT, the 9075 has more height than the 9015, so the holder and/or spacer would have to be altered to accommodate the difference.
So basically get yourself a set of both.
Get a good pair (brass) and then have some cheap spares, yes.
Hello, very helpful video. I was looking for a tweezer and I found this video. I just want one tweezer to help me repair, change battery or modify my casio digital watches. I bought Bergeon 7767-F spring bar tool for straps. But I am not sure which tweezer should I buy. Should I buy this Bergeon 7422-PM-AM brass tweezer? I just want to buy one tweezer for general use. How about Horotec MSA12.303AM or MSA12.303B5? Actually I don't understand the differences yet. Maybe you can help me?
horotec usually offers slightly lower cost swiss versions of bergeon products. If I was going to get one pair, it would be the brass tweezers I show in this video.
New generation of watchmakers.
never know what interests might stick! exposure helps :)
I was dead set on purchasing a screwed-down case opener from Horotec, costing nearly $900.00+. However, after having watched your presentation in this video, I am now exploring more options priced more reasonably in comparison to the aforementioned Horotec. Thank you for an informative review, well done!
this thing works just fine, and I use it a lot. There's no reason something like this should cost what Horotec and Bergeon charge.
@@WatchComplications Yes, I completely agree. The prices of almost anything of late, let alone that of commodities have become nothing short of extortionate.
so those are lit and maybe I can eventually settle. But how difficult would it be it to have a watch that that is like a planetarium like it doesn't tell time it just has the four inner planets which will have to move kind of a lot and then the outer planets which two of them will move slowly, we're talking like revolutions over the course of years and then three of them will essentially never move. because the outer ones have to move so slowly that probably can't be automated right because you would need too many teeth in a gear (i I'm not sure if any of the words I'm using are correct). And conversely, Mercury would have to go really really fast. so if they're just too large of a speed differential something like that to be feasible? I have seen like a Google image of something that looks like what I'm talking about kind of but it seems like it's a scam of some kind because of the way it's posted kind of everywhere but every website's sort of dodgy, that sort of deal
yeah it would take special gearing and getting it that small in a watch would be a challenge for sure.
great!!! I´m about to by a Mido Multifort and comes with pulsometer, that´s why I´m here. thanks for the info
glad you found it helpful!
Can’t you just flip the strap around so it face the other direction?
It's a question that's been asked a few times in the comments, and I wish that it worked, but I tried a flip with both this watch and a Seiko Presage which has a similar strap clasp design, but it doesn't work the way you think it would. Looks and feels odd if flipped.
Anyone know where I can find this model .
sold mine eventually. I'd watch for them on Chrono24.
My whole issue is finding a case with a thick enough wall on the case. Case I have is perfect for the depth of the movement but my issue is the cases I find all have too thin/narrow walls. I need a thickness of 5mm for stems I have. Where did you find that specific case?
The specific case I used in this build can be found on ebay and aliexpress. I have more info on the builds here: watchcomplications.com/ten-six-watches/movement-and-case-combinations/
@@WatchComplications Thank you. I'm trying to look for cases that will work for a pocket watch movement and sleeve/stem. Nothing modern. But looking quite a bit around I may have to do something just custom.
@@jeremyhunter1459 have you looked specifically for "conversion cases" for pocket watches? Some exist, but a lot of the work in that space is custom.
@@WatchComplications yes. There's a company that has cases for a 16s movement. But nothing for a 6s, which would be a 40mm case and a 12s which is 45-46mm case. I'm looking into different sources from where I may be able to get cases that would fit the sleeve/stem, fabricated.
@@jeremyhunter1459 cool, lemme know if you find em!
Un accroccone!
??
@@theemaadhatter3400 is like "FrankenWatch"
ah ok, yeah, but people want cool movements in cool cases, especially in the watch mod community.
who the fuck has all the devices you present?
what’s with the abrasive wording? and anyone who wants to manually make their own dials. I show many other tools in other vids and also alternative methods, but watchmaking tooling is near endless.
What about the accuracy of the Binger watches?
oh I wouldn't put to much faith in the accuracy beyond what any typical low-end mechanical movement can provide, which isn't awful, but that depends on your perspective. Probably +/- 30 sec a day, could maybe be better or worse. I've since sold it as I didn't wear it much...or maybe I gave it away.
Always thought that the pd hands are too skinny, but seeing it besides the Rolex, it looks modest
They’re typical hands I’d say. Thanks for watching.
Schaumberg rules the earth and moon phase put your money there
Great vid! I am making my first dial from scratch. To confirm, at the end you apply 2 coats of metal primer. Is it a etching primer ? Then 2 other regular primer coats before the top coat ? Thanks!
I tend to apply 4-6 very thin layers of primer with 2-3 minutes between each application to a dial blank. Don’t use an etching primer unless you are going for an etched look on the base.
I have the Ice Blue ver of this watch. I love this green ver of the watch as well too though 😮
it was a very cool watch, but alas i sold it as it wasn’t getting wrist time. I will always keep my SBGE249 though.
@WatchComplications it is rather small though, but if I could get the beads of rice bracelet for it, it will definitely makeup for it's size
agree about it being small, 37mm is about my limit on the small side. A bracelet would help with that some.
Hi there, nice work! Would you advise on anybody making bespoke watch hands in the UK?
if you want mental pain and suffering, try to make custom watch hands 😆
An idea for your custom spacer rings - make it into a 2035 / NH35 dial adapter. The 2035 would be sandwiched between your adapter and the NH35 dial. The dial feet of the dial would poke into your adapter (they are larger than the NH35). On the market, there are many NH35 dials available and very little 2035 dials. NH35 case and dial measurements are freely available on the net. All the best!
oh, I see what you are saying. The issue there is the height. Adding that sort of adapter between the dial and the movement will require hand posts that are longer to accommodate the height of the adapter, and the case would have to be tall enough to handle that, along with the stem height in the case. Not sure that would work.
@@WatchComplications it’s actually dial, movement, adapter “clamps” the movement to the dial. So the movement is up against the dial. 2035 is smaller and slimmer than NH35.
This is so informative. Thk u very much! I was wondering if u could help us out who don't know much about autocad and drawing programs. Could u pls create STL file comprising of a disc of diameter 40mm, height 10mm with the 2035+stem cut out in the centre? At our end, we can use the simple MS 3D builder that's available in Microsoft Store to just subtract out the diameter and height to fit what we need. The hard part is getting the shape of the 2035. Another question I hv is that PLA deteriorates over time. Have any of your inserts suffer that fate yet? Thx again 🙂
oops! I just went to your website and realized that u're selling custom inserts.
you can always contact me on via my website if you want to discuss projects, but if you are talking about an stem insert cut in PLA to match all the dimensions of the actual stem, the printer isn't accurate enough for stem-making, if you know what I mean. As for PLA having trouble holding up...haven't heard of any issues yet and I've had some out there for a few years.
I watched this one too. I already learned sooooo much
older videos, but glad some of the content is still proving useful for the process :)
@@WatchComplications its all good stuff
I just watched this video the other day! Right on
thanks for watching!
mehhh, if epoxy was so great then watch makers would be raving about it. My spot welder doesnt leave any marks and it gets done on a heatsink so the heat is minimal. I am sure there will be a finish it wont work on but its my go to. The machine was 80 bucks. Not a bad investment. Its not a feet welder. Its a battery welder and charger. Its adjustable which helps a lot. Not every dial is the same.
spot welders are great too. this video just shows one method/option. maybe will show the welder at some point.
@WatchComplications I do want to try this method though. I can imagine I will have to at some point. I also have been kicking around laser soldering. I pulse my laser on some solder and its a done deal. I use low melt. I havent perfected it though. I have to play with the settings more. I know there are machines set up to do it. Thats what gave me the idea. I will watch your video you gave me. I coule always use the added knowledge. Thank you very much.
@@JoeKyser there are some devices to help with this sort of soldering specifically, and I know they might be useful. I intend to test one out at some point and if so, I would capture it as a video as well.
amazing watch... i bought it cheap (2500 dollar) i think it will never be cheaper than this upcoming 50 years :) and i'll be wearing an amazing watch.
good price! and yeah, it's a great great watch. thanks for watching.
Any problems with dimpling?
I’m assuming you mean if it starts to show on the other side? I’ve not had that problem, just doing go to deep or push too hard when milling. You don’t have to apply to much pressure. Cuts like butter.
@@WatchComplications Correct thanks for replying not all channels reply so kudos to you.
I always try to respond when possible :) Thanks for watching.
There are versions that accept two lenses, so with a 1.5x *and* a 2.5x, you get 3.75x
I don’t know, that sounds unnecessarily complicated, haha.
Two things: zoom in so we can see better what you are doing, and explain how you build lume ratio by showing it being made please.
I do try to zoom in when I can, but that video is quite old, so I wasn’t as astute at videography. As for the ratio, It’s about 1:1, but I go by look and feel. If you get too much of the adhesive, just give it a bit of time and it will evaporate some and thicken.
Thank you love the commentary on the status of the market. Need to this and think it’s absurd it’s than gt3 rs market lol
thanks for watching!
Bezel insert made out of steel, is it?
yes
Hi. Is the back cover made as one piece with threads, or are the threads welded to the cover, like in fullmetal covers?
It's a screwdown case back, that is fairly typical of watch cases, if that's what you're asking.
@@WatchComplications I meant that the metal case backs made out of 2 pieces, welded. My question was about the case back with crystal, is it one piece with thread?
@@neverstov I believe it's one piece (with the crystal pressed into place)
@@WatchComplications you are my hero! Thank you very much) 😊
I think put a transparent thin plastic all over the wood where you put the dial and print then you have a perfect guide
manual printing = things move regardless of material, but yeah that can help with an initial guide
I'm sure those "smooth stones" are ceramic bearings .
copper beryllium bushings
Hey ... Did you try the watch out in daylight and if so what were thoughts 🤔:)
hey there. If you hold this watch in direct sunlight you aren't going to be able to see the time. the light washes out any sense of what tubes are on. you gotta shade it a bit.
@WatchComplications Phew....glad it wasn't just me ... Thankyou for reply
I don't get it, after 30 seconds is not the same result all the time since the seconds hand measures seconds and 30 seconds go on the same spot on the dial all the time?
by the time you hit 30 pulses on the person, the second hand could be anywhere depending on their heart rate
Yasssssss
gonna be popular combos I think!
333th! Grate!
Greetings, could you send me your email or your telephone number? I would like you to customize a watch dial for me.
I own one like this. It's a good piece of gear and you cans save a ton of money over the Bergeon. I did upgrade with the attachments though. I bought Horotec attachments that fit this tool.
I use this tool quite a bit. It is perfectly suitable without breaking the bank. Plenty of other branded attachments fit, so that's a good option. You could even 3d-print custom tool ends for it and that is one thing I've done :)
is there anyway to decrease the glow time of the watch lume to mimic old tritium? Trying to match the lume of my old watch that only glow for a while before fading of rapidly
get a new lume compound that is a vintage/cream color, or just don’t put a heavy layer on.
$130 at Costco.
the hype around these things at launch was crazy. like many other watches. but at least it seems people are getting back to normal and not overpaying for things that will eventually be on the shelf.
